Bio
Macie Coburn grew up in Garretson, South Dakota, where involvement in her family’s businesses, Palisades Oil Co. and Palisades Propane Inc., gave her early insight into the operational and legal challenges businesses face.
She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, with a major in Accounting and a minor in Political Science, from the University of South Dakota in 2015. After graduation, she worked as a Staff Accountant for Louis Dreyfus Company in Kansas City, Missouri, where she performed financial accounting and reporting for multiple business entities.
While attending law school, Macie continued to build her business expertise by independently managing all human resources for her family’s businesses, a role she continues to hold. She earned her Juris Doctor, with a concentration in Organizational Ethics and Compliance, from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2021.
Macie began her legal career as a law clerk in 2022 and became an associate after passing the South Dakota bar. She later served as in-house counsel at Credit Collections Bureau, providing regulatory compliance guidance on FDCPA and HIPAA matters. These experiences broadened her understanding of the regulatory landscape that businesses navigate.
Now at Boyce Law Firm, Macie works alongside attorney John C. Quaintance, serving business clients throughout South Dakota. Active in her hometown, she serves on the board of director of the Garretson Commercial Club and lives in rural Garretson. She is admitted to practice in both South Dakota and North Dakota.
