Mike A. Hauck

Overview

I joined Boyce Law Firm in June 2025, focusing on transactional law, real estate, and creditors’ rights. I’ve been a licensed attorney in South Dakota since 1989 and bring decades of experience in a wide range of business-related legal matters. Alongside my legal work, I’ve also served as a commercial real estate broker, investor, and small business owner, which gives me practical, hands-on insight into real estate sales, leasing, and development.

Over the years, I’ve worked with individuals, developers, lenders, and business owners across the region—helping them structure deals, solve problems, and move their goals forward. Clients and colleagues often describe me as reasoned, responsive, and pragmatic. I’ve built strong connections in the Sioux Falls business community and take pride in offering reliable, results-focused legal counsel backed by personal business experience and local insight.

Bio

Mike Hauck was born in Vermillion, South Dakota, and raised primarily in Aberdeen before graduating from high school in Sioux Falls. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in accounting from the University of South Dakota, where he also served as “Charlie Coyote,” the university’s beloved mascot. He went on to graduate first in his class from Hamline University School of Law (now Mitchell Hamline School of Law) in St. Paul, Minnesota, receiving the M. Arnold Lyons Award for highest academic performance.

Following law school, Mike returned to South Dakota to join one of the state’s largest law firms, beginning in the business department and later transitioning into commercial litigation. He went on to co-found a law firm focused on both transactional and litigation work, and in 2000, he helped open a Sioux Falls office for another major South Dakota firm. In 2006, he stepped away from full-time legal practice to serve as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of a commercial real estate brokerage. He later formed his own brokerage company in 2014 and remains a licensed real estate broker in South Dakota.

In addition to his legal and real estate careers, Mike has been actively involved in real estate investment and development. He has helped form investment groups and partnerships to acquire income-producing properties and develop multi-family housing in smaller South Dakota communities. From 2017 to 2021, he and his wife, Jessica, also owned and operated a small printing business in downtown Sioux Falls.

Mike lives in Sioux Falls with Jessica and enjoys spending time at their cabin on Pickerel Lake —or traveling to warmer destinations during the cold prairie winters. He is the proud father of two adult children and four grandchildren, who he enjoys spoiling whenever he gets the chance.
